Easter Events 2013

Maundy Thursday (28th March)

Sung Eucharist and Stripping of the Altar

When: 7.30pm

Where: St Mary Magdalene

This is a solemn service where we remember the last supper and symbolically remove items from the sanctuary in preparation for the desolation of Good Friday.

Followed by silent vigil in the church. 


Good Friday (29th March)

United Service and Walk of Witness

When: 10.00am

Where: St James' Church

A simple service where we remember the events of Good Friday and after the service a walk of witness to the Castle Gate for a short meditation. 

 

Good Friday Liturgy

When: 2.00pm

Where: St Mary Magdalene

A simple service remembering the events of Good Friday with a time for prayer and contemplation.

 

Easter Sunday (31st March)

Don't forget the clocks go forward by 1 hour on Easter Sunday this year.

Whalley Dawn

When: 6.30am

Where: Whalley Abbey Ruins

This is the earliest service you can attend on Easter Day. Welcome the new dawn and the ressurection of Jesus Christ and then have a warming bacon sandwich.

 

Said Communion Service

When: 8.00am

Where: St Mary Magdalene

Come and celebrate the risen Christ.

 

Sung Eucharist

When: 10.00am

Where: St Mary Magdalene

Come and celebrate the joy of Easter Day with a full choir and the chance to sing the Gloria after the simplicity of Lent. Followed by tea and biscuits.

 

Easter Monday (1st April)

Easter Walk

When: time to be confirmed

Where: around the local area 

Come and join the parish for an Easter Walk. We will tackle an easy family and dog friendly walk - hopefully in the sunshine, ending with tea and cakes in a cafe.
